Valley of Fire
“The Valley of Fire Marathon in southeastern Nevada may be the most beautiful marathon in America – perhaps in the world… This race certainly goes on your short list of most-unforgettable marathons.”
-Marathon & Beyond Magazine, July-August 2011
The Valley of Fire Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k all happen in the incredibly beautiful and unique Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada; located only 6 miles from Lake Mead and 55 miles northeast of Las Vegas via I-15. The race route will be CLOSED TO CARS for the first 3.5-4 hours of the race.
Valley of Fire State Park is Nevada’s oldest and largest state park, dedicated in 1935. The Valley derives its name from the red sandstone formations and the stark beauty of the Mojave Desert. Bring the whole family and enjoy hiking, picnicking and photography. The park offers a full-scale visitor center with extensive interpretive displays.
This is the hardest race you will ever love. Come run in the Red Rock desert of Valley of Fire State Park. The challenge is to continue running amidst scenery so beautiful you’ll be tempted to stop and snap a picture. We welcome runners and walkers of all ages.
We have non-stop hills and scenery that will both literally and figuratively take your breath away! Honestly, there’s not a single flat mile on any of the race distance routes. So please train accordingly. We offer the amenities of BIG races but in a small race venue.
